Once upon a time...

Laura Arzenton, 32 years old, designer since childhood, self-taught. I always wanted to take drawing lessons but never really invested myself in doing so. I have always doodled with my pencils, on course notebooks, all kinds of materials to pass the time. I started filling out notebooks during my lecture hours at university and it became an obsession. I spent entire evenings and nights on papers.

In my twenties, I was dazzled by hyperrealism. I tried at all costs to reproduce exactly what I saw. I observed a lot of artists, techniques, and I did everything to reach their level.

...the course...

I craved perfection. I could spend over 70 hours on a drawing.
I started my teaching profession at 25, and time ran out. It was on my job that I worked day and night, more on my drawings. So I had to reinvent myself to be able to enjoy it from time to time. I created a clothing brand, tested the graphics tablet, and then I got tired of these new supports, of the new means of communication made available to artists at that time... my personal journey became dark and turbulent , which pushed me to use new drawing materials to express what creativity I had left.

...of an Artist!

I was seduced by the felt-tip pens and ballpoint pens or ink of all kinds. Simplicity, and at the same time complexity. Symbolism, and at the same time relief, and then time... I could no longer spend nights drawing, today I only have a few hours from time to time. Fine markers allow me to escape again and satisfy my need for symbolism and realism. Black and white satisfy my need for contrasts and give free rein to the imagination of colors. The use of lines could be reminiscent of that of tattoo artists, and I like that. I hope to convey as much emotion with these humble designs as I need to express on paper.
